Use this mostly to prevent pipes freezing and sometimes working in a standalone gararge. Puts out good heat and appears to be a well built unit. Only complaint is the thermostatic control. Very hard to set with any accuracy but I just err on the side of more heat (only reason for lack of 5 stars). It’s a 30 amp heater but it will pop my 40 amp breakers after running a couple of hours. This is probably my problem, not the heaters since I think it would happen much sooner if the heater was drawing that much current.

I’ve had this in my garage a couple months now and its performing nicely. My garage is not insulated well and is 20’x30′ with 10′ ceiling, I’ve been able to work comfortably out there on the coldest of days. Its not going to roast you out, but does take the chill off very well. I take away one star due to its rather cheap thermostat. Would like to see a more accurate way to set a temperature for this price.

I’ve been familiar with TPI Corp and their quality designed and built heaters. This is no exception! Item comes boxed well with a molded 240v plug. I purchased the 5600 watt model and am using it to keep my garage above freezing during the winter. This heater kicks out the heat! But also be prepared that it consumes nearly 6000 watts of electric when it is running. There is no dual heat mode, it’s just straight on/off. So while it’s running depending on your electric rate it may not be for you. But it will throw out the heat and the noise level is low as the fan’s RPM’s aren’t exceptionally fast.Only thing that stopped me from making this 5-stars is I don’t like the operation of the built-in thermostat as it doesn’t seem to go lower than 45 or 50 deg before it will kick off. I simply wanted to keep my garage above freezing during the winter months. With the built-in thermostat at the lowest level, it keeps running up to 50 degrees or above. So this didn’t actually work with what I had planned in that the thermostat is basically useless as I end up letting this heater run about an hour during the night which does keep it above freezing, even during this harsh 2014 winter with single digit temps.

I purchased this TPI Corporation HF686TC fan for a great price on Amazon. I recently installed/mounted it in my garage and it is really impressive. Keep in mind that the 30amp requires a 240v outlet, but it was easy to mount, ightweight and great quality. Since I do lots of work in my garage (not attached to house), working during Winter months can be difficult. This product provides enough heat in my one car garage that makes my working environment very easy.I would definitely recommend this heater for anyone who requires additional heat

Oh my gosh, I am the best wife ever this Christmas! I had suggested a garage heater as a possible idea for my husbands garage and he informed me the only heater that would work was a Mitsubishi high dollar heater costing too much. After researching tons of different garage heaters I settled on this one due to the reviews. Hubby has a 30 by 35 garage that is insulated but still COLD in the winter! This little heater boosts the temp up to comfort for the entire garage! One of the negatives in other reviews was that it doesn’t have a temp gauge. It has a knob you can turn up or down but no idea what temp it is set at. He just turned on the heater and checked and adjusted the knob until the temp gauge in his truck read 68 and marked that on the knob as the temp setting with a permanent marker. It is also very quiet, important since he also watches TV in his hideout! He is declaring this the best Christmas present he has ever gotten. Great product and great price!

I have a garage that is 42×24 with a 10 foot ceiling height. The rollup doors are single skin metal doors. The outside wall is insulated and has three large windows. The other wall is insulated. This little heater can move the inside temperature on a damp cold day from 40 degrees to 60 degrees in a fairly short period of time. Making the garage space very comfortable to work in during the winter. It is reasonably quite considering the volume of air it moves and does not get overly hot.Great little unit and well worth the price.

I use this in a 550ftsq garage with r13 wall and r19 ceiling insulation. It does a nice job warming it up but it’s not going to cook you by any means. I think if you turned it up towards the highest setting and let it go for a long time it would feel like t shirt weather (70 degrees) with 40degree outside temps – but all in all it does what I want it to do. 4 stars just because I feel like it could be a bit more powerful. Some reviewers claimed to heat much larger spaces well but I don’t know based on my experience. Does work well but if I had a bigger space I’d get a bigger heater. I guess it depends on how hot you want it. I lift weights so 60’s works for me in and it can do it in freezing temps but takes 30min to get there.

Puppy’s breath, but it will keep me from freezing in a large warehouse/shed. The thermostat/on-off control is low grade. Day 1- I was unable to turn the unit off and had to unplug to control. I disassembled and cleaned the control and it works OK now, but probably not for long.

quiet, attractive, portable, unobtrusive. (1) advantage is that it is on a stand, that can sit on the floor and is easily moved, aimed, and repositioned. (2) another advantage is that it comes with a plug in cord instead of hard wired, so you can put it away when not in use. requires a stepped up outlet and breaker so make sure you have the right power supply or ability to convert. Had no problems with intended use of heating a 25′ x 15′ glassed-in porch from 50s outside to 70s inside degrees.

Out of the box, the thermostat does not work at all. As soon as you plus it in, it runs, only way to turn it off is to unplug it.Update, not sure why, but it started working properly today?

I got his unit for my 1200 sq ft area and it is not enough, not even close. The fan it has built-in barely blows and seems to me like that is the problem with the unit. The heating element seems good but the fan itself is weak. A high dollar hair dryer might blow hotter air at a more rapid rate. Being that it uses a welding plug, well I thought that would make it an industrial unit, but alas it should be built with a regular 110 volt plug. This unit is incorrectly advertised.

Was hoping it would be a bit hotter than it is. Has been running for months inside a construction site with no issues

Working well so far. Well made. Should last a long time. I like that there is enough air flow to keep the temp of the exit air from being too hot. Seems like a safe design. The fan is reasonably quiet.

I really expected this heater to throw out enough warmth to heat my garage. It just didn’t measure up. The air coming out of the heater didn’t feel all that warm, and the fan/blower didn’t push it out very well. And yes, I knew the cord length when I made the purchase, but it would have helped to have a longer cord so the heater could be located closer to where it was needed. I will say that the customer service by the distributor that I purchased the heater from was outstanding. They bent over backwards to work with me, but ultimately, the heater just isn’t what I needed.

I heat my 24′ x 24′ 2 stall garage with 1 of these 220volt heaters. Its safe and works very well. When it is -10 to -30 degrees F, I put a commercial fan in front of the heater & set both on the floor. Keeps my garage a comfortable 67 degrees at the half setting. I have been using this heater for 10 years without issue. I only wish the company could make a unit with a more forceful fan for extreme cold. When working on missile sites our 2.5 ton tool truck used these to keep inside warm. We pluged into missile site power and kept heater on 24/7 for 28 days.
