I’m confident that this heater can work on any application :)Its simple to wire in, wires are plenty long, and it comes with instructions. Most importantly, it works. Every so often i hear the freezer draining a bunch at once, which I cant really explain, but the fridge is finally dry so we dont have to keep towels in it anymore.I do have one significant issue. The legs used to transfer heat to the drain pipe and also hold the heater in place arent wrapped around eachother or stabilized in any sort of way. This makes getting the thing seated properly quite the ordeal. I had to mess with em and put some aggressive bends in, but doing so without a torch means my bends aint perfect.I dont think such a feature would have a negative impact on heating or reduced the universal capability of the device.I would knock off a star for that issue, but I wouldn’t want to wreck the overall rating on this unique part since it works quite well and solves such an annoying problem.

Seems to fix my issue of the line freezing and was fairly easy to install. Would have been a 5 but arrived a day late.

I had a problem with freezing condensate drains on a SubZero Built In (BI-36) refrigerator. The frozen drain line, which is very small, would result in condensate backup inside the refrigerator section. Thankfully, the BI-36 has 120V AC for the internal air filter fan which can be tapped into along with this drain heater to prevent ice in the drain. This completely resolved a 2 – 3 year issue with freezing drains that plagued these refrigerators, especially in high humidity environments.A poor design by Sub-Zero on a $10,000 refrigerator solved with a 15 dollar part.

Our side by side freezer wouldn’t drain and kept leaking out of the door while having the bottom drawer stuck to the ice buildup. Got tired of thawing the little drain hole out. Saw a YouTube video using this little beauty. Thankfully for me my hubby has an electronics degree, not that you need one. It’s been two months since the heater was installed and so far so good. Very happy.

simple to install and works great in addressing drain port freezing issue.

This was used in an $8k viking professional refrigerator/freezer with drawer freezer, because their hinky freezer drain design would not drain water well enough and cause it to hang around after defrosts and eventually cover the freezer floor. The heater was not too difficult to connect or install and this is the second one, first one lasted 3 years. Good answer, too bad Viking can’t do better on design.

Winters in TX are insane. The condensation line on my outdoor hot water heater would freeze and then the heater would shut down. This probe, fits right in the condensation line opening, and even with sub 20F temperatures, the water drains and everything works.

For years I have dealt with my Whirlpool upright freezer drain blockage problem. It would take the better part of a day to unload the freezer, disassemble the unit, melt the ice blockage, reassemble, wait for the the temperature to lower to a safe level, and then reload the now half-defrosted food. What a terrible design. I tried the j-shaped metal hanger that mounts on the defrost heater tube with no success. Even tried hanging multiple pieces of heavy copper wire from the defrost tube and snaking the wire into the drain. Nope. This little heater is keeping the drain hole from freezing over. Thanks to Supco for making this.
