Got this for my newly acquired Big Buddy heater. I read multiple reviews on the OEM power supply and how crappy it was. On top of that for some reason they are charging upwards of $15+ for a crappy power adapter. Found this. Note that the manufacture has two listings up for the same product. I had asked that question since I wasn’t sure. This one has 5 reviews, the other has 50+ reviews. It is the same, don’t worry like I did. This plugs right into the back of the heater. I LOVE that this plug is sideways so that you can plug it in the top or bottom of the outlet and still use the other outlet if you want. The OEM unit is a huge square which if you have it plugged in the top, you won’t be able to use the bottom outlet. One thing I wish the manufacture did was actually make the cord longer. I think it should be at least 10′ long and the reason for this is that the big buddy propane hose is anywhere from 10-12′ in length so having a power cable that matches that makes it easier to move or place this if an outlet isn’t 6′ away. Anyone that is good at solder can easily extend the wire on this though so that shouldn’t be an issue if one needs to add length. Just make sure you solder and use quality heat shrink tubing.Overall a good product. I will update after some use.

Without fan assist the heat just goes up to the ceiling. With the fan running the heat is forced out the front and stays at a lower level for a while heating the room faster. Batteries run out after a while. This handy device is ready as long as the power does not fail. Get one, and be a bit warmer in the cold.

The big buddy heater due to some government issue between the US and China has stopped providing the fan in their heater. So I bought the heater with the fan while the supply lasts. In addition, I bought this power cord because at some point in time it will no longer be available. The product works as it is supposed to…..

Do you remember that tune by Blink 182 titled “All The Small Things”, well that pretty much sums up this adapter. I love that they paid attention to all the little details from design right through to functionality. For any 3rd party vendor, getting the specs correct is most important. The Big Buddy Portable Heaters with a fan require 5 watts of power supplied as 6 Volts at 0.8 Amps (6V @ 0.8A). Why is this important? Well if not enough power is supplied, the fan may run weak or not at all. Too much power and the fan motor may run too hot and wear prematurely. This Pwr+ Adapter is spec’d at 6V @ 1.0A but notes that it’s 0.8A compatible which means there’s a chip inside that can detect the required Amperage and deliver accordingly (same technology as cell phone charging blocks). 5/5 for meeting the proper power specs.Note: since this adapter is capable of providing 6 watts of power (6V @ 1.0A), it may be used to power other small electrical items provided it’s powered by a 2.5mm jack. With functionality covered, let’s move onto “All the Small Things”, these are the little details that many may overlook. The first is the shape of the adapter itself. It’s slim profile and sideways plug keeps the second socket free for another device on a standard household wall outlet.Next, there is a small LED light on the front of the Adapter to confirm that power is flowing.Third, the 2.5mm plug is right-angled which allows you to place your heater unit in tighter spaces or with it’s back closer against a wall. Another little detail about the 2.5mm plug is it’s length. The tip is actually longer than needs to be to power the heater, but the additional length increases it’s versatility to support other devices where the plug is deeper. The last thing I’d like to note about the adapter is the length of the cord. It’s 6.5 feet coils up neatly to fit into the battery compartment of the Big Buddy heater when not in use (bonus!)Another great thing about this adapter are all the certifications. The adapter is UL, CE, FCC compliant which means that they are certified by these third party companies to ensure the products meet specific performance measures, quality controls, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols (e.g. will not cause fire or shock). In addition this adapter bears the RoHS certification which stands for Restriction of Use of Hazardous Substances (things like lead, mercury, and cadmium) often used in electrical devices. So as my review is titled, it really does come down to “All the Small Things” that make this adapter a great 3rd party substitute, especially since the reviews of the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) adapter for the Big Buddy are so terrible.I’ve tried to find some downfall to this adapter, and the only thing I could come up with is that the cord is on the short side. The adapter cord is 6.5 feet in length, but if you’re inclined to purchase this adapter vs using batteries, you’re probably the type that would also invest in an adapter hose for larger propane tanks vs purchasing the 1lb canisters. Well the typical propane adapter hose is 12 feet long (for safety) and this adapter cord is only 6.5 feet, so there’s a bit of a mismatch there. But if the cord were longer, it would no longer fit nicely tucked in the battery compartment when not in use… so a bit of a give and take there…Overall I think it’s a great fit and a pretty good buy in my opinion. This 3rd party adapter is slightly cheaper than the OEM, but it meets the required specifications and is well built. Yes, it’s made in Taiwan, but it’s an American company providing the engineering specs and material requirements. Not all things coming out of Asia are made cheaply, and this is one such example.

While AC is on I’ll use this when power is off I’ll use the 4D batteries to operate the Heater fan.

Perfect power supply for the fan on my Big Buddy. Charger is good quality and now I can use the built in fan for the 1st time in 6 years. The fan makes a big difference it the time it takes to heat up the outdoor shed.

Worked perfectly with my Big Buddy heater fan. Dispersal of heated air is greater than using batteries.

I lost my plug and the cheapest place to get another one. The cord was perfect and the voltage is right.
