Great product—although this winter has been much less harsh than last year, this product worked really well! My length calculations were pretty spot on and installation was pretty straight forward and easy. The only hurdle I had was the long down spouts–I ran the wire on the outside of them for a couple of reasons–one being the fact that running them down and back up would be impossible to keep the wire from touching itself and secondly, I have sheet metal screws that penetrate the down spout and would likely cut through/scrape the wire. Bottomline–no ice dams and clear gutters for most of the winter. Very happy with product after first season of using them.

This is a great tool against snow and ice build up on your roof. It was easy to ‘hang’ and all but a few hooks held over this winter. I would recommend this for anyone who is tired of shoveling snow off their roof.

First winter was a success. I installed in January during a 40 degree thaw. It kept a channel clear and gutter flowed empty.

Wire is installed. Must wait for winter to judge effectiveness.

Everything installed good, haven’t gotten to winter to need it yet.

This product arrived on time, was well packaged and for once, the directions were really good! Plenty of useful drawings and clear instructions made the installation very straightforward and fairly easy. It takes very little effort to place the shingle clips. Make sure you have done your layout on paper so you aren’t up there winging it! I am ordering a wireless remote on/off switch today for this to make it easy to control. This system draws 10A, the wireless (from Amazon) is rated for 15A so I expect everything will work fine. We turned it on yesterday as the snow came and it was 26 degrees, the perfect conditions for ice dams to form. Very soon, that classic zigzag pattern was evident in the snow and it was pain to see water droplets coming off the drip loops and into the gutter. Hope it lasts a few seasons as it does appear to be pretty well made.
