To start off with, I am using this heater for a specialized purpose. I finished my basement a couple years ago and I made a special effort to insulate the water pipes to ensure they would not freeze in the winter. However, it turns out there is a section of pipe that runs up from the basement level to an outside wall above a basement window that is completely inaccessible. The extra insulation I added to the exposed pipes and then sheet rocking them in actually cut off warm air from keeping the pipes from freezing. Since then We’ve had to hair dryer the pipes from freezing a couple times each year with this year being the worst so far. Thankfully, I switched them to PEX pipe which has been a life saver in it’s own right. After reading the reviews this little unit seemed to be perfectly tailored for my purposes. The wall where the pipes freeze is also next to a frigid window well located next to my desk. The basement stays cool year round- but next to that window it gets really cold. I mounted the Envi heater on that wall a few feet below where the pipes are located and monitored the wall with a laser temp heat probe for over a week. Previously, the cold spots on the wall could dip to the mid 60’s indicating that the interior was much lower temped. With the heater in place, it heats the wall which in turn becomes an extension of the heat unit it’s self radiating heat into the room. The wall temp right above the output is 130F and 110F 4″ above that. At the very top of the wall and area of the ceiling above it I get a steady 88F. Keeping in mind that a laser temp gun measures only the reflected heat, this indicates the sheet rock is as warm as 135F but on average about 90F. I’m not concerned about any damage to the sheet rock based on what I’ve seen over the past 10 or so days. I have a plastic tree my wife dumped on me fairly close to the unit and the warmer “leaf” is only 80F.The unit looks terrific for what it is. The power usage is very low and the slow heat output over time keeps the 370ish SQFT basement room it is located in just the right temp over the ambient temp of the room.It would be interesting to see what this unit does in a small room. It seems very safe, does not present an unusual fire hazard. It’s mush safer than a space heater- but is not the type of heater you would use for directed, quick heat. The price seems high, except for the fact that it’s advertised as made in the USA. For that, it seems like a fairly priced unit that I hope lasts years. One of the rooms in my basement is a recording studio, another benefit of this design is that it will not contribute to any room noise like a space heater would. This is a great practice space option.Update: We are really very happy with this purchase. Would reccomend.

This works well for our bedrooms which are at or slightly above the 160 sqft limit. We live in a northern state, but our average temperatures are in the 20-30s in the winter and these have essentially replaced our oil heat in the bedroom zone. I keep the heater at the lowest setting and use a new echo dot with temperature setting to control a smart plug. This setup is working well for me, but I was disappointed that I needed to go the extra step because the temperature adjustment on the heater doesn’t seem to shut off the heater based on the room temp (I believe it is a timed on/off cycle) and works well enough that it will generally just keep heating the room well above the temperature we want it to maintain. Other than the controls which have a number of options to fix it works great. The heater is only 400 watts so I barely notice a difference in my energy consumption.

I love how slick these things look on the wall (I bought 2 of them). They are as flush as it gets and are really easy to install. Tucking the extra wire in the specialized compartment also helps a ton. All in all, you will love the looks. My gripe with the product is the feature set, or lack thereof. At $180, they are a bit steep for what they are, especially when the only feature, their manual adjustable thermostats, basically only work in two modes (instead of the 5 as indicated by the scale on the knobs). If you leave the thermostat set to 1, the unit will cycle on and off at a predefined interval, which is great, but the rest of the 4 settings don’t make any difference. You can it them set at 2 or 5, it doesn’t matter- the unit would essentially run all the time.

Works good for what it is, keep in mind it is only 500 watts. I put this in a 15 foot camper to keep it above freezing. On highest setting it keeps camper about 20 degrees above outside temperature. Instructions say to run on highest setting for 48 to 72 hours. After 3 days on high the top of unit was a bit hot, uncomfortable to touch but not hot enough to cause concern. I pulled the unit off the wall and measured about 125 degrees on the back of the unit. It appears to be a very safe design and I now feel confident that heater can be safely operated 24/7. There isn’t much of a thermostat on it so maybe not the best choice if precise control is important but it is a good little booster heater. If it had a good thermostat I would have rated 5 stars but still a very good heater. I would definitely buy it again.
