The heater works as described. I had an electrician installing a double power line to provide the 240V for the heater. I wish the heater or the thermostat had an explicit on/off switch. Although the off – position locks in at the dial, it would be good to know the heater is effectively off as I use it in an uninsulated garage and I don’t want the heater to be under power in any way if the thermostat dial knob isn’t effectively turned all the way to the off.

It works fine, just a little off as far as temperature setting on dial. You’ll have to hang a thermostat next to it to figure out exactly how far off it is…if you care.

GOT THIS TO GO WITH MY OVERHEAD GARAGE HEATER. IT’S A HIGH VOLTAGE THERMOSTAT. I HAD AN ELECTRICIAN COME IN AND WIRE MY SHOP. HE HOOKED THIS THERMOSTAT UP TO MY HEATER. IT WORKS GREAT. I DON’T GET HUNG UP OVER DETAILS SO IF IT’S OFF BY A COUPLE OF DEGREE’S I’LL NEVER KNOW IT. ALL I KNOW IS IT WORKS LIKE IT’S SUPPOSED TO AND KEEPS MY SHOP NICE AND COMFORTABLE. IF YOUR PLANNING ON INSTALLING HEAT IN YOUR GARAGE OR SHOP AND YOU DON’T WANT TO MESS AROUND WITH WIRING CONTACTORS AND RELAYS AND TIMERS. GET ONE OF THESE. THEY SWITCH THE HIGH VOLTAGE SIDE AND ARE VERY EASY TO INSTALL. THANSK

So far so good… this is about the only in-line 240V thermostat I could find for my 6000w Dr heater that would handle the current for a decent price. I had a similar device from another brand but it was under rated and failed.

I purchased this thermostat because it was recommended when purchasing the Dr. Heater DR966 240-volt Hardwired Shop Garage Commercial Heater, 3000-watt/6000-watt, DR966 240V. Install was strait forward with easy to follow instructions.

Bought because I didn’t want to reach up high to switch heater on, off, or to adjust and to keep from wearing out the on board switch on my Dr Heater DR-966. Installed correctly and according to instructions and DR video. It cuts heater off 15-20 degrees too early every time. If you set the thermostat to 70, heater cuts off when room is 50-55. Set to 80, cuts off around 60-65 and so on. Obviously, I’ve learned now to just turn it full tilt to 90, but what’s the purpose of paying for a thermostat? Or the trouble in wiring it? (Difficult stuffing 6-#8 wires inside a wall box). Disappointed here…..

The instructions… aren’t great. But paired with a Dr. Infrared heater this thing is awesome. I used it with the 7500w model and it’s perfect. I use it as the “external thermostat” on that unit. Just know a few things:1) It doesn’t “turn off the device” on the lowest setting. What i mean by that is, it will literally trigger the heater based on the set temp and is fully automated. even at the lowest knob setting, it still registers that as a “temp” (even though it says lowest is like 45 degrees) and will trigger the heater to come on. However, this isn’t a problem for me. I set it at 50 degrees F and it controls the heater beautifully (cycling it on/off when needed to hold temp). I just keep it on the opposite corner of the garage from where the heater is and it’s very accurate.2) You still need to turn your heater on with the remote or on the device, switch the toggle to “external thermostat” and then it works. It’s also super accurate from what I can tell. My car thermometer and my regular old mercury one read 50 degrees F when it’s set at that. So very nice.

This works and does what it is supposed to. I used it because it is the recommended stat for a Dr. Infrared Garage heater and didn’t want to go off the map when first getting it hooked up. My only complaint is the range between on and off. Seems like it takes too long to kick on and then runs too long once it does. Makes the temperature swings pretty substantial. Will probably replace it with something else later on but for now it works fine.

Very effective and safe solution for controlling my garage heater. Would highly recommend instead of a monopole switch or no switch at all (breaker controlled).

When I got this product it came with absolutely NO protection in the box. just the thermostat box with a shipping label. Horrible packaging. It has been 2 weeks that I had this product and I just walked into my shed and it was like a sauna, 85-90F when I have the thermostat set on 72F which normally kept the shed at 55F. Accuracy was garbage when it did work, now it won’t shut off and calls for heat unless the dial is on ‘OFF’ even when my shed is burning hot.First time I have tried a thermostat other than Honeywell and this will be my last. Also, whoever designed this product is not very smart. I had to extend my wiring. Instead of keeping the Line wires at the bottom like any other themostat, this has one on the bottom and one on top. Doesn’t even make sense.0 stars. Do not buy.

Most will be using 10/2 Romex with ground on a 30 amp breaker – this product touts a 28Amp. Rating, a breaker should always protect the wire. The housing of the device is also metal but is ungrounded – it is supposedly isolated. Any variation of temp reading from the unit vs a thermometer can be attributed to wire and device heating instead of actual temperature but the device is accurate. To make this product better use a larger work box (4 gang, grounded if applicable) to disperse the build up of heat from the wires and make the unit more accurate. This product would be better if it came with such an enclosure and I am still dubious to the lack of grounding for the metal encasement but for the price it works I would have paid more for more. I just wish it was implemented better. I bought this to work with a 5kw comfort zone heater and it does what it needs to. Easy to install, don’t cut any strands off the tinned copper and use as large of an enclosure you can to keep it accurate.

This unit appears to be very well constructed.

have a dr-675 in my detached shop – could never reliably set an overnight temp – this device is simple to install and maintains 50 degF overnight no matter what the ambient temp — exactly what i wanted – cross that problem off the list forever– icing on the cake was the excellent customer support from dr heater

It’s a nice thermostat but I don’t think is very accurate. It’s probably typical for dial type. Plastic cover won’t click back after removal during installation but it’s holding in place. One nice feature is it does have an OFF. My heater will turn off when I dial to OFF. Overall, it’s a good thermostat and price is very good. It’s doing what I bought it for.

Have a 3000/6000 watt garage heater. I got tired of getting a ladder to change settings or turn unit off. This works great and is very accurate.
