I’m giving 4 stars which indicates “I like it” because 5 means “I love it” and I’m sorry, but I can’t work up that much passion for a simple heater coil replacement part. This was precisely the right thing though, and it fell right into place for my particular bath fan model, which I don’t remember anymore. I had to do a Google search for images that allowed me to pick out the thing since I don’t keep a diary of every multi-digit model number of everything I’ve ever bought for or installed in my house. This was from 15 years ago after all. A bit of a drag that this needed doing at all, but I can’t really complain that what was there lasted over all that time up until now. While the installation went fine, it’s not entirely trivial to do and I would not recommend it for the novice. It required removing the entirety of the heater fan unit, but allowed for giving it a good cleaning at least.

Our blood runs cold (we live in the Northeast where the winters are cold) and we always use our little ceiling heater in the bathroom to warm the room up before showering as well as during showers to stay warm. After about seven years of running like a champ our heater in the bathroom broke and started blowing cold air (just in time for a cold spell that was coming in). Our ceiling unit works both as a bathroom fan as well as heater. The fan survived but the heat was shot.We called my boyfriend’s friend who is in the construction business and he quoted us several hundred dollars to replace the unit!! We looked into replacing the unit ourselves, and the fan/heat unit ran at least $150 (minus any labor if we were unable to install it ourselves). Hence came in this little guy at just $29.69! My boyfriend installed it in less than 15 minutes, and we have been using it daily for three weeks now and it is running great!!My only qualm is that we paid extra money to receive next day delivery and it still took about 4 or 5 days to show up…. so we continued to freeze our tuckus off each time we had to undress to wash.

This part fits perfectly in the NuTone bathroom Night light/60watt light, ventilator & heater unit, model QTXN110HL-A.The first time I needed to replace this heating element years ago, I purchased NuTone’s OEM item @ $70 !! No need- this one fits & lasts just as long!! All DIY’ers will find this an easy install. I just wanted to list the following because some people do not like to tackle electrical projects.CUT POWER TO OUTLET Unsnap the light cover by carefully pressing on one side & remove two Phillips screws.Remove the main cover & unplug the electrical connection above the heater motor. Remove the two 10mm nuts that hold the heater fan, the fan will then slide down & out.Remove two small standard screws hold the heater & the heater will slide out. Slide the heater fan up onto two small flanges on the backside & then onto the two threaded ends for the 10 mm nuts. Done!(FYI, The night light replacement is a C7–7 watt bulb) Hope this helps someone!

It’s hard to know how to rate this item. It’s exactly what I needed so I am very happy to find it and buy it. But, the only reason I need it is because the nutone bathroom heater it goes with burns it out so easily. So, Nutone’s quality is very questionable but I am still glad to have found this part. This is the second time I’ve had to replace this in the six years I’ve had the heater. The first one was provided free by Nutone since the part burned out while the heater was still under warranty. I had the first one professionally installed and the electrician basically said, “they don’t make them like they used to and that it was only rated to run 2 hours or less before burning out.” Since then I’ve been careful to never run the heater for more than 30 minutes but this one still died. So, the part is super delicate. And just a note, my mom’s house has a Nutone bathroom heater fan that’s been working since 1978. It gives off twice the heat of this one and is still going strong with zero maintenance other than changing the light bulb. It will run for hours too. So, they definitely don’t make them like they used to.

The heater portion of my Broan Nutone bathroom fan/light/heater stopped working in fewer than 6 months after the unit was installed and i had gone without the heater for a few years. I always suspected that a fuse had probably gone bad because heaters do use significant electrical power to operate. After deciding to see if i could rectify the problem, i checked YouTube to see if there was a video of fixing the heater. I did find a couple of videos and, after watching, decided i could handle the repair myself. I also read the reviews here on Amazon and saw that heaters for my unit were a huge problem, burning out frequently – with the assertion being made that the soldered fuse (which was castigated for being soldered rather than easily replaced by most people – which would make repair easy and far less costly) was set to fail when the temperature exceeded a certain threshold – something that seemed to occur frequently, especially if the heater was left on too long. Knowing that i like warm bathrooms for taking shower, i bought a 3-pack of replacement heaters in case they stop being made. Once my replacement heater arrived, i finished taking out the old heater unit and replacing it with this new one. Voila!! I now have heat. The work of replacing the heater was not entirely simple but not bad. I am not a really mechanical person but have made a few repairs in my time and the few problems i encountered with this repair were not too difficult to figure out how to proceed. I now not only have heat but also have a clean unit because i took the time to clean everything while making the repair. Having made the repair successfully and having 2 spares will hopefully make sure i have heat in the bathroom for a long time, especially if i don’t leave the heat on for long periods of time.My initial problem was figuring out what make and model of fan/light/heater i had. I was unable to figure out how to get the cover off to look inside. The YouTube video showed me that. Even after i took the cover off, i was unable at first to find out the model number but eventually found that it was stamped on the plastic light cover. The stamp is the same color as the cover so it took holding it up to the light to find it. There is nothing inside the unit that remains in the ceiling when the cover is off that gives the make and model, which led me to look more closely at the cover and eventually find my information. I was using a short ladder (3′) with no platform for tools or screws, which made the repair job trickier. Except for that, unplugging and replugging the electrical connections was very easy and cannot be done improperly.

So we’re on the third replacement with ever shorter times between repairs. The heating element seems correct and genuine, and it’s not the wire that burns out. In all case did the 110C thermal fuse trip. It’s not resettable and the fuse alone is difficult to replace.I’ve been reading some more and one blog explained that the burned fuse is a mere symptom rather than a root cause. It seems to make sense that if the blower motor degrades over time, the airflow reduces and ultimately the temperature observed y the fuse raises, too. This is especially logical since the time between repairs got shorter with every incident (from initial 6 years to finally 4 months after a total lifetime of about 9 years). So I went ahead and replaced both heating element and the blower motor (Broan S99080558). Hopefully it will extend the time until the fuse blows back to the initial 6 years.Replacement is rather easy since all you have to do is remove a few screws and unplug the fan/heater assembly (which is held by two hex nuts). The wires are all plugged in and the replacements come with matching plugs. The only real annoyance is a poor design choice of having low and behold four (4!) different fastener types involved. Be prepared to have a philips (PH2), a flat screw driver as well as an Allen wrench and a hex wrench handy. Seriously!?(If you have kids in the household, make sure they don’t play with the switch that turns the heater on. The heater coil quickly warms up and if the motor can’t keep up with a trigger happy kid, it will also potentially blow the thermal fuse.)

This device is a heater element for a bathroom ceiling-mounted heater/light/fan unit. It typically lasts for about one year. It would be nice if the manufacturer would improve their design to prevent the predictable one-year burnout timetable. However, since that would cut into their profits, I don’t really expect it to happen. Cynical attitude I know, but realistic, I’m afraid.

So this is an authentic service part for the Nutone-Broan Heat-Vent-Light, so it perfectly replaces the original part. BUT – this heating element is poorly designed. The heater has a non-resettable overheat protector (built into the heating element), which seems to be overly sensitive. A better designed unit would have an automatic resetting overheat protection, with the internal protection on the heating element for back-up protection only. Of course it would have cost a few dollars more to make the heater that way, but there are so few heat-vent-light units on the market, I doubt that I would have purchased a different unit, if it were priced higher initially, and then I would have been a satisfied customer. I have experience with 58 year old Nutone heat-vent-light units in another house that are still working perfectly, but this 6-year old unit is junk, by comparison.

My original heating element the thermal fuse blew open because I let it clog up with dust I believe. Bought one of these on Amazon. I cleaned out the heater motor and cover vents completely. New element thermal fuse blew open after around 3 weeks. I noticed the way the thermal fuse is positioned on the heater. It is installed with rivets. You cannot solder in a new one because the soldering iron gets too hot and blows open the thermal fuse. The fuse is riveted to the inside of the wafer on one side and its wire comes straight to the fuse. The other end is riveted to the outer side of the wafer and is bent with a radius that I think is too large of a radius. What I did was, using a small needle nose Pliers I slightly bent the wire with the big radius bend and bent it down moving the thermal fuse slightly away from the heating element as shown in my picture. I’ve worked with these kind of devices for years and just that little movement may be the answer to longer life. Just a 1/16th” further away from the heating element is my fix. So far so good.

Not sure how to rate this as yet. The product is what we ordered and works well right now, however, this is probably the third time we’ve had to replace the heating element in this exhaust fan. Not sure how durable any of them are.

My Broan-Nutone bath exhaust fan/light/night light/heater has been in service for about 6 years or so. The heater stopped heating. At first I thought I would have to call someone to fix it or replace it. The two screws that hold the cover are behind the cover for the light/nightlight. Once the cover is removed the heater and associated fan are one unit held in place with two nuts that upon removal will allow the fan/heater to swing out from notches on the overall housing. The fan housing has a couple of ears on it that need to slide into the slots when reinstalling the fan/heater unit. on the exit of the fan is the space in which the heater coils are inserted. They are held in place with two screws on each side of housing. Once the screws are removed and the retaining plate on the opposite side the heater coils can be removed and replaced. The wiring is all plug-ins. the whole heater/fan module plug into a receptacle on the overall housing and the heater plugs into a sub receptacle on the wiring to the fan. Once I saw how everything came out, putting everything back together including replacing the heating coils took maybe 15-20 minutes.
