Update Jan 2013: I starting hearing more and more noise from my Heater fan and was worried the Fan motor or bearings were worn out and beginning to fail. The noise ended up being the plastic housing vibrating against my ceramic tile wall. Simply touching the plastic housing stopped the noise. For a permanent end to the noise and to not have to worry about over-tighten the mounting screws in the plastic housing I ended up using some 3M Scotch Mounting Tape, .5-Inch by 75-Inch (110) mounted flush on the edge of the housing so you can’t even see it. This tape cushions the housing against the wall and prevent any vibration from the housing from bouncing off my tile.Update Nov 2013: My heater worked well for 8 months and then died (no power). The issue was a thermal protector had blown (it functions like a fuse to kill power to the unit if it overheats). I called up Broan Customer service and they shipped one out to me free as it was still under warranty. Good thing as it’s as a $60 part. My heater is back to normal fighting morning chills.October 2012:My main bathroom had a 40yr+ old built in wall heater that stopped working 5yrs ago. I finally decided to replace it with this high quality Broan wall heater. The heat actually blows straight out from the bottom vents, while the top vents are for the air inlet (and remain cool). I was amazed at how much better the new heater was than my old unit. The Broan is fairly quiet, all you hear is a normal fan hum when it’s running. Once the unit reaches the temperature you’ve set with the dial it turns off and then will cycle back on when it drops below it.Electric heaters are perfect for bathrooms as they can quickly heat one room without having to turn up the heat for the entire house. The rest of the house can be 65F while the Master bath can be raised to 80F in 10min. So we no longer need to turn up the whole house to take the chill out of the bathroom. The new heater was about 1/2″ wider than my old opening so I used a wet/dry masonry blade in an angle grinder to cut through the ceramic time and cement backer board (took maybe a minute or 2). The installation was just a few easy steps with simple accurate diagrams.Update 12/17/2012 Back in October I didn’t think we’d be using it much until December, but found we actually have it on almost every day to take the chill out of the bathroom. It’s on for about 1.5 hours every day and has worked great.Note: Another buyer commented the unit doesn’t have a thermostat. Probably to save cost the manufacturer didn’t include a temperature display or include temperature markings of any kind. The control knob functions much like a standard hot/cold temperature knob in a car. There is an Off setting with increasing heat settings. The unit DOES contain an internal thermostat and will cycle on/off to match the HEAT setting on the control knob.

My old one started to smoke and melt so it was time to replace it. This one fit perfectly in the old ones spot. It looks very clean and functions the same way as the old one. It seems to get a bit less hot however. Overall I’m happy with it.

I am remodeling a motor home. I wanted a built-in heater for the bedroom. I saw this unit, it looked good, and came from a well-established company. In real life the unit is OK looking. Satin finished white plastic and a knob that looks a bit old fashioned. The knob was pushed on too far so it dragged on the plastic body and felt rough and cheap when turned. I pried out the knob a bit and then it felt fine when turned.Installation was easy although the wire box was a bit small to cram all the wires in.My main issue with the unit is the vibrating noises. The fan and heating element are attached to the plastic grill and then the whole unit is held into the metal box with two screws, one top, one bottom. The heater buzzes and vibrates on and off as it is running. I’ve tried tightening the two screws and loosening them. I’ve put thin adhesive backed rubber foam strips on the wall where the plastic frame comes to rest when mounted. Nothing stops the periodic buzzing and vibration. My guess is the buzzing comes from material growth during heating and the fact that Broan decided to use two screws to mount the unit. As is, it will wake people when it buzzes. My next “fix” is to add screw holes at all four corners. After this experience, I chose a “Fire Storm” heater for the front room. Wow, pretty to look at, quiet, digital temp control, no buzzing, all for $125 instead of the $180 for the Broan. For the cost, Broan should have done better.

Great compact heater, easy to install. The first one stopped working after 5 years. No big deal as the price is low. The second one lasted one month, then a rattling sound came up. I reinstalled it, the sound went away for 2 weeks but came back. I just installed a third one. Putting 3 stars because of poor reliability.

Easy install interesting design that the motor or guts of the fan are attached to face plate instead of the box that goes in the wall. It’s kinda loud, sounds like a small jet noise, seems to take a while to heat. The low and high settings don’t seem to change heat or fan much. Seems a bit over priced for what it is, hope it lasts.

Great wall heater. Arrived on time, installed easily and worked great. Should have gotten the highest btu, but this works fine.

Wish this new unit would put out warmer/hotter air like our original unit did.

Works perfectly and was easy to install. I liked it so much that I bought a second unit for another bathroom.
