It took just 10 minutes to exchange this with my existing board, and to my great relief the water heater is functioning properly once again. Looks like the board has been updated but all the connections are still the same and align perfectly. Existing board failed 6 months past the 12 year warranty. We will see if this one can outlast the tank.

The control board to our Whirlpool EE2H50RD045V Energy Smart water heater failed after a power surge when our whole-house generator malfunctioned and caused a fire in the breaker box. The shipment was extremely fast and installation was a breeze. As others have mentioned, the red wire was too short, so we simply used the existing wire. Saved us the expense, time, and mess of replacing our water heater.

Excellent product, we had power surges and power went out. After that, our old circuit board didn’t appear to work. I bought this as a replacement for our Whirlpool smart energy control board. It was extremely easy to set up, all the wires unplugged and plugged into the new board. Turned the power back on and it completely restored our water heater. Had water hot in the house within 45 minutes.

Works as good as new. As others have noticed, the red wire is too short to fit through the hole they provided, so you have to improvise. I drilled a small hole through the gray firewall and threaded the red wire through that, and it works fine. If the red wire on your old unit is undamaged, you could also swap the old one for the new one and get the same result.

Almost perfect replacement for my old Whirlpool water heater. Almost because the new board has a reset button the original did not have. But still $200 beats spending $700-$1000 for a new one, plus I don’t have the aggravation of having to move the old one out and a new one in.

The unit is a perfect fit for the whirlpool unit that we have. The old board got fried somehow, likely due to a loose connection on the board. This new one seems to be doing the job just fine, as a side note, in my case, the red wire is extremely short, but had to go with the original, which luckily, was in great shape.The highlight of this product is the perfect fit (side short wires) and the speed it was delivered, got it the day after I ordered it.
SHERLOCKED –
We had several strong storms pass through our area that caused our power to flicker to go out and come back on several times within a few days.Next thing I know is that I do not have a green light on my water heater control panel.I pressed the reset as well as cycled the power from the fuse box…no change.I started looking for a new water heater but then found this replacement control panel and decided to give it a try.Like the other reviewers have said…Very simple to replace (with or without using the included instructions) and I had hot water less than an hour later!My wires were in good shape so I was able to use my existing wires. If you have to use the wires included…the main red wire will be on the short side.So far so good!
